Although you would like it to be, nothing stays the same. It wouldn’t be right, if things were staying as they are all the time. Changes are hard, especially if you liked things as they are. At any given morning, while you open your eyes, you’ll have no idea that a few hours later something happens that can change your life completely. .
I have had a few of those mornings in my life so far. One person or one situation that accursed would change everything. It was 2006 and I met a man who helped me look at things in a different way. I wanted to go to a workshop from the organization the man worked with and that was to take place in the south of my country. Driving was an issue for me. I only drove on country roads during the day and oh i almost forgot, I had this fear of steep roads. The were some obstacles on the road to the workshop.
“No.. I can’t think of anyone with who might give you a ride” the man said. If felt my nerves going wild. The south of the country.. are you kidding me? I would have to use the.. highway! I wanted to so bad to this workshop that eventually I decided to go. In my car I had, extra food, water, flash lights, because I was going on a survival trip. I had a tom-tom which was on old version. I was half way on the trip as the lady in the navigation decided to take a nap. I freaked out! Oh my goodness… what to do, I don’t know where to go. I saw a sign with a city that I knew was in the south. I took that exit and was praying softly. Just 10 minutes before I would have no clue as to where to go, the lady in the tom-tom woke up. I made it! I remember getting out of the car. Standing there like Rocky who made it to the top of the stairs and knowing I had reached my goal. Driving to a place I had never been before on the highway, for crying out loud!
During the workshop I met another man who would change my life. The owner of a school that teaches people who are insecure drivers. He offered to help me with my phobia with hill sides. I remember sitting next to him in the car and thinking “oh my goodness is this ever going to be all right?” The fake hill side looked like a mountain. After 30 minutes he had me driving up and down the hill with not a worry in the world. It would save me a lot of miles now I wasn’t afraid any more.
Changes can provide more freedom. I drive to all the places I want in the country, even passing hill sides without fear. A change can present itself or you may choose for it yourself. If you want something badly enough, you will make the step towards change.
You will find that a change often brings you something good. If it’s a change you would rather not see happening, that often is a blessing in disguise. It will bring you something new, and often something better. Like many people who lose their jobs at the moment. For me it was a change I saw coming with fear. It helps me to think about changes I went through in the past and realizing that I know laugh about what I used to fear. I will laugh about this period in a year from now, I’m sure. Until now it gave me the opportunity to write a lot and start a website. That is something gained from being unemployed.
