It seems that I have more than 3000 thoughts per hour while I am awake. That would be 52 thoughts per minute.. Scientists have said this, I am not counting them myself..
Of those 3000 thoughts one often stays around a bit longer than the others. Today it was the thought on hugs. What an amazing way to spent time. It made me do some searching myself.. on the subject.. my own hugotology.
I came across a list of different kinds of hugs and even courses in ‘how to..’ It made me smile and I looked at how I hug and read the deeper meaning of the hugs.
You need four hugs a day to survive, eight hugs to do maintenance and twelve hugs to grow, says Virginia Satir, an American expert on hugging.
“It’s a wonderful way to start the day. Hugging helps you stay healthy, think better, stay younger… It’s communicating without words.”
Did you know that people spent 1 hour per month hugging. That is a lot. Considering that the average hug only lasts 10 seconds.
A complete body hug stimulates the nervous system, lowers feelings of loneliness, conquers fear, builds self-esteem, reduces tension and provides a feeling of appreciation.
I have a high hug-factor and I was already convinced that hugging is healthy. But after all this research don’t be surprised if you see me running up to you and yelling ‘Huggggg! It has so many advantages… I am starting my own religion.. Hugotology!
