Kindness… Somewhere inside us all, there is an amount of it. I can’t imagine it not being there. If it’s not visible, it will be stored behind a small door inside a persons heart. Probably because they’ve been through a lot and it’s hard for them to open that little door. As an Ambassador of Kindness the subject keeps me busy. I frequently get tasks to practice kindness. If you are wondering if I manage do perform them all the time… Honestly? Not always.
What I do know is that I’ll be joining the Dance For Kindness on November 8th on the Grote Markt in Nijmegen. Imagine a group of people, all dressed in orange shirts, dancing to let the world know it’s cool to be kind. Well, if I’m to join, I’d better get moving and practise this dance.
I look at the instruction video on Youtube. Well, how difficult can it be, I thought. I’d soon find out. The instructor was standing in front of a mirror with his back turned to the mirror. The first ten times I watched the video I was trying to figure out in what direction I was supposed to go. It’s a good thing people aren’t able to watch through my windows. I think they would have enjoyed my struggle to figure this dance out.
After a while I was able to do the steps that go with the chorus. “I’m getting to old for this stuff” I thought many times. .My left foot was in front, where the dancers had their right foot in front. Playback. Again.. And again.. Oh dear. It’s not that I’m a bad dancer or a lack of rhythm in me, but choreographically organized dances are not my thing. I’ll be doing the dance on a daily basis, I’m afraid. I can use some workout, so that’s an advantage.
If you think, “Wow, that’s a cool thing to do, this Dance for Kindness”. Register as a dancer on the Life Vest Inside site . For those of you who want to look at what I seem to find a challenge… .
In case I’m not blogging… I might be lying on the floor, recovering from the practice. 🙂
